R-Day celebration at Thrissur hut; Grandma unfurls national flag with children

Thrissur: An elderly woman, Ammini hoised the national flag along with her grandchildren in the courtyard of her hut. The video of the flag hoisting went viral on social media. 

Cheruchenam native Vellunnaparambil Vijayan’s mother Ammini (69), unfurled the flag on a bamboo pole as celebrating Republic Day. 

Vijayan’s eldest daughter Vismaya, a Plus Two student captured the heartwarming moments on a mobile phone and the principal of her school posted this on social media.

Vijayan, who is a coolie worker built their house five years back with palm leaves and coconut leaves.
