'E-application' feature removed from Kerala govt's eOffice Portal

Edappal: The option for E-application, which was introduced to speed up the filing of applications and complaints, has now vanished without a trace from the state government's eOffice Portal.
Besides filing complaints and submitting applications, the feature enabled users to collect receipts and track the status of their applications. The system, which had several difficulties in the past, has now been removed.
This service was used regularly by the public. Meanwhile, officials claim the facility was apparently pulled due to technical issues and will be restored shortly.
The state IT mission, which developed the portal, argued that the NIC (National Informatics Centre) is in charge of the maintenance of the portal. They have already informed the national agency about this.
Two years ago, they reasoned the delay as the application needed to be modified to suit the latest version of the eOffice Portal.
In response to an RTI filed by a revenue group, the Thiruvananthapuram NIC said that the state IT mission is in charge of the management and maintenance of the eOffice Portal.
NIC officials in Thiruvananthapuram also say that because numerous alternative online systems are now available to the public, the e-application is no longer required. Moreover, they said that no directive has been received from the government to deliver this facility and that they would take necessary action if and when such a directive is received.
