Doctor's death in Kollam: Kerala Human Rights Commission registers suo moto case

Kollam: Kerala State Human Rights Commission has taken a suo moto case in connection with the death of a doctor in Kottarakkara Hospital on Wednesday. 

Human Rights Commission member VK Beenakumari directed Kollam District Police Chief to submit a report within seven days. 

Meanwhile, Kerala High Court will hold a special setting in the case on Wednesday afternoon. The bench of Justice Devan Ramachandran and Kauser Edappagath will consider the matter. 

House surgeon Vandana Das (23), a Kottayam native, was stabbed to death by a man brought to the hospital by police for a medical checkup. Four other police officers were also injured in the attack. 

Sandeep, the accused in the case, is a teacher at Nedumpana UP school. It is said that Sandeep grabbed the scissors and stabbed the lady doctor multiple times while she was trying to stitch a wound on his body.
