Doctor's death in Kottarakkara: Dr Muralee Thummarukudy's warning came true

Kozhikode: A Facebook post by Disaster response expert Dr Muralee Thummarukudy about safety issues faced by health experts in the state went viral on Wednesday after a lady doctor was stabbed to death during a medical examination at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. 

Vandana Das (23), a Kottayam native, was stabbed to death by a man brought here by police for a medical checkup. Four other police officers were also injured in the attack.

Following the shocking incident, Dr Muralee Thummarukudy's Facebook post from April 1 went viral on social media. In the post, Muralee claimed that "every month, five health professionals are subjected to attacks from patients or their relatives." He also warned that such incidents may escalate to someone losing their life. 

Muralee shared the Facebook post in the wake of recurring cases of attacks on health professionals in the state.

Sandeep, the culprit in the case, is a teacher at Nedumpana UP school. It is said that Sandeep grabbed the scissors and stabbed the lady doctor multiple times while she was trying to stitch a wound on his body.
