Cyclonic circulation over south Tamil Nadu: Rains to continue in Kerala until August 7

Thiruvananthapuram: Due to a cyclonic circulation prevailing over south Tamil Nadu, Kerala is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall from August 3 to 7, 2026, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Meanwhile, the off-shore trough extending from the south Gujarat coast to the north Kerala coast has weakened. However, isolated locations across the state may still witness heavy rainfall.

The weather department has warned that strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h, gusting up to 60 km/h, along with adverse weather conditions, are expected along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts on August 3 and 4.

As per the revised bulletin, an orange alert has been issued across 12 districts in Kerala on Monday.

In addition, yellow alerts have been declared for various districts over the next three days.
