11 test positive for COVID-19 in Kerala on Saturday; 4 recover

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has confirmed 11 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

Among the new cases, 4 are from Thrissur, 3 from Kozhikode and 2 each from Palakkad and Malappuram. Seven among the 11, had returned from abroad and  2 each returned from Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

With this, 87 people are under treatment for COVID-19 in state.

At the same time, 4 people who were under treatment tested negative on Saturday. Among them, two each are from Wayanad and Kannur.

Till date, 497 people recovered from COVID-19 in the state.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced the latest updates on COVID-19 in the state through his official Facebook page.

A total of 55,045 people returned to Kerala as part of the repatriation. Among them, 2,911 people returned in flights and 793 reached the state via seaports. Meanwhile, 50,320 crossed border check-posts and 1021 people reached Kerala on trains, informed the CM.

As the state is continuing the battle against coronavirus, 59,981 people are being placed under quarantine across the state. Among them, 56,362 are in home-quarantine and 619 people are admitted in hospitals.

On Saturday, 182 people were admitted to various hospitals in the state.

Till date, 43, 669 samples have been sent for test. Out of this, 41,814 tested negative.

Under sentinel surveillance, 4764 samples were collected from the priority groups including health care workers, migrant workers and others who are unable to maintain social distancing. Among these 4, 644 turned negative.
