COVID-19: Strict inspection at border checkposts

Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of coronavirus outbreak, Kerala has imposed stringent inspection along the state borders. Only very essential travel is being allowed through the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. All private vehicles are being inspected.

On Sunday, the day of Janata curfew, even international air services to the state are limited. A complete suspension will be enforced from Monday. Permission has been given to only those international services which has already started its journey prior to the curfew, to land in India till Monday morning. Meanwhile, domestic services will not be affected.

However, no taxi services will be available for passengers at the airport. Though prepaid counters are functioning, the number of available vehicles are very few. People may need to depend on private vehicles.

On the Janata Curfew eve, huge rush was experienced in cities across the state. There is a trend of buying and storing food items and essential commodities. The reason is attributed to the anxiety of any restrictions in the coming days.

Beverages outlets and Supplyco outlets also experienced rush as these stores will also be closed on Sunday.
