Thiruvananthapuram: A complaint received by the party, which includes references to financial dealings involving CPM leaders, has been submitted in court alongside a defamation case. The fact that a document held by the Politburo has been leaked has left party leaders surprised.

The confidential document appears in connection with a defamation case filed by the party’s London representative against the media, following reports that he was removed from his position as a delegate to the Party Congress. The complaint, submitted to the Politburo by a businessman from Chennai with close ties to the party prior to the Party Congress, has now been presented in court and made accessible to the media.

It is unclear why a complaint unrelated to the defamation case was submitted as part of the case documents. It is also not known whether this inclusion was accidental.

The complaint contains serious allegations. It warns the party that if the contents were to come out, it could adversely affect both party and the government. The complaint states that some of the government’s coastal development projects are part of a financial scam involving a foreign paper company. The complaint was reportedly submitted to the Politburo along with supporting evidence. The request is that the party must investigate these highly sensitive and confidential matters and take appropriate action.

The complaint submitted to the Politburo is meant to remain a confidential party document. The question now being raised within the party is how a complaint, known only to the complainant and the Politburo, ended up in court as part of the case documents.
