Police take action against aggressive shop staffs in Kozhikode’s S M Street

Kozhikode: In response to numerous complaints against shop staffs at Mittayi Theruvu (SM Street) for aggressively forcing pedestrians into their shops, the local police have announced strict actions against those harassing people on the street.

The issue came to light after a woman shared her unpleasant experience on social media. She described how shopkeepers forcefully stopped her and others from moving forward. Rather than attracting customers to their stores, she highlighted that such behavior drives potential buyers away.

Following this, the police have decided to intensify their efforts to address the situation. Reports indicate that these staffs often use unpleasant and foul language to catch the attention of people passing near their shops.

In response, the town police have registered a case against the same, and assured the public that strict action will be taken against offending vendors starting Friday.

A.V.M. Kabir, president of the Kerala Traders and Industry Coordinating Committee, Mittayi Theruvu unit, stated that traders had previously agreed to refrain from aggressively pursuing potential buyers outside their shops. Kabir emphasized the importance of ethical business practices and stressed that business should be conducted respectfully to avoid tarnishing the area's reputation.
