Bharat Rice to be sold at railway stations

Kottayam: The Railway Passenger Marketing Executive Director has approved the sale of Bharat rice in several railway stations across the country. This initiative by the consumer affairs, food, and public distribution industry will be executed through mobile vans at subsidized rates.
The sale of Bharat rice and Bharat atta will be implemented on an experimental basis for the next three months and no separate charges or licenses will be imposed by the railway. The decision as to where the van will be parked is done by the Divisional General Manager who is tasked with the sale of rice.
Rice and atta sale will be held for 2 hours every evening. The condition also states that there should be no announcements or video presentations. Officials say that this will be a permanent solution to the complaint that there is no proper place for the sale of Bharat rice. Bharat rice is sold at Rs 29 per kg and Bharat atta at Rs 27.50 per kg.
