Pathanamthitta: The CPM allegation that the person who recently joined the party after quitting the BJP was being framed in the ganja case has been debunked by the Excise officer concerned.

Yadukrishnan, who joined the CPM last Friday, was caught with two grams of ganja and smoking equipment near a bridge at Kumbazha here by the Excise on Monday. Although the arrest took place on Monday, the news broke on Wednesday.

Following this, CPM area secretary M V Sanju alleged that Aziz, the Excise Preventive Officer who arrested Yadukrishnan, was trying to trap him as the officer had links with the Yuva Morcha--BJP's youth organization.

Reacting to the same, Aziz told the media that he had no role in this and was just part of the Excise team that took Yadukrishnan into custody; the CPM's argument started to fall apart. Aziz wondered how his name was included in the case as he firmly believed that government employees should not be involved in politics.

Aziz is a recipient of the Chief Minister's Medal for Outstanding Service and several good service entries.

Meanwhile, Yadukrishnan maintained on Thursday that he would lodge a complaint against the Excise officials with the district police chief and the state Excise Commissioner. It also ended up as another trouble for the CPM. The fact that Yadukrishnan’s move to file a complaint five days after the incident turned out to be part of a defence mechanism.

The Excise has arrested Yadu with evidence, including digital proof. Excise Inspector C P Dileep, Assistant Excise Inspector Rajeev, Civil Excise Officers Rajeev and Zulfikar were with Aziz during the arrest. The team had arrived at the spot where he was arrested on the basis of information that the place was a hub of drug abuse.

Interestingly, Yadukrishnan, Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAPPA) accused Sharan Chandran and 60 others joined the CPM, in the presence of Minister Veena George and CPM district secretary K P Udayabhanu. The videos of the Minister shouting slogans at this function were also widely circulated.
