Gurugram: A woman who allegedly posted a video claiming that she had cooked beef for West Bengal's new chief minister has been arrested in Gurugram, with a local court also rejecting her bail plea.

The accused, identified as Jyotsna Bibi, a resident of South Dinajpur district in West Bengal, was working as a domestic help in Gurugram's Chakkarpur area. Police said she was arrested after a video uploaded on social media triggered a controversy and complaints over allegedly hurting religious sentiments.

According to police, the matter came to light on May 30 when the Chakkarpur police chowki received information about a viral video related to beef. In the video, the woman allegedly claimed that she had cooked beef for the West Bengal chief minister and remarked, “you didn't let me perform the 'Qurbani' (sacrifice) this time around," she said.

Following a complaint filed by Chakkarpur resident Dinesh Yadav, an FIR was registered at Sector 29 Police Station. Bibi was arrested the same day and later sent to judicial custody after being produced before a city court.

Police said the accused moved a bail application on Tuesday, but the court declined to grant relief. Judicial Magistrate First Class Suman's court has now fixed June 8 as the next date of hearing.

Advocate Sundar, appearing for the complainant, said arguments from both sides were heard before the matter was adjourned.

Investigators have also seized the accused's mobile phone and preserved it for forensic examination. Police opposed the bail plea, arguing that her release could potentially influence witnesses while the investigation remains underway.

The development comes weeks after the West Bengal government issued fresh guidelines on animal slaughter, stating that slaughter without a mandatory "fit certificate" from competent authorities would invite penal action.
