‘What’s your skincare routine sir?’ PM Modi’s response to Harleen Deol’s question goes viral

When the Indian women’s cricket team dropped by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence at Lok Kalyan Marg after their historic ODI World Cup win, the conversation wasn’t all about cricket. Sure, there was plenty of talk about the team’s thrilling victory and memorable moments from the tournament — but one light-hearted question from batter Harleen Deol stole the show.
Harleen’s skincare question takes the spotlight
In a video of the meeting released on Thursday, Harleen Deol asked PM Modi about his glowing complexion and skincare routine. The Prime Minister, taken slightly by surprise, smiled and replied, “I did not pay a lot of attention to this... I've been in government for 25 years now. Receiving so many blessings has a lasting impact.”
It was a charming moment that instantly went viral, giving fans a rare glimpse into the lighter side of PM Modi’s personality.
A proud moment for Team India
The Indian women’s cricket team, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, visited the Prime Minister on Wednesday after clinching the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Dressed in smart formals and proudly wearing their gold medals, the team received heartfelt congratulations from PM Modi for their incredible achievement.
He praised their determination and resilience, noting their comeback after facing three defeats in the league stage and enduring social media trolling. “Their performance in the final was marked by great skill and confidence,” he had earlier written on social media. “The team showed exceptional teamwork and tenacity throughout the tournament. Congratulations to our players. This historic win will motivate future champions to take up sports.”
Cricket talk and fond memories
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur recalled meeting PM Modi in 2017 and said it felt special to return now with the trophy in hand. “We wish to meet you more often,” she said, smiling.
Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana praised PM Modi for his motivational presence, adding that he has been an inspiration not just for them but for many young women across India. “The success of girls in various fields today is because of his efforts,” she said.
Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma said she had looked forward to meeting the Prime Minister again, reminiscing about their previous meeting in 2017.
“He encouraged us to keep working hard to achieve our dreams,” she said. PM Modi also mentioned her “Jai Shri Ram” Instagram post and her tattoo of Bhagwan Hanuman. Deepti smiled and said the tattoo gives her strength.
PM Modi’s light-hearted cricket banter
The Prime Minister, known for his wit, also brought up Harleen Deol’s iconic catch against England in 2021 — one he had even posted about on social media back then. He also discussed how Harmanpreet pocketed the ball after the final match, to which she laughed and said she was lucky the ball came to her and she kept it as a memento.
PM Modi playfully mentioned seam-bowling all-rounder Amanjot Kaur’s now-famous fumbled catch in the tournament. “While catching you must be seeing the ball, but after the catch, you must be seeing the trophy,” he joked. Amanjot replied that this is one fumble she actually likes to remember.
Fitness talk and family moments
Fast bowler Kranti Gaud shared that her brother is an ardent admirer of the Prime Minister, and PM Modi warmly invited him to meet. He also encouraged the players to spread the Fit India message, particularly among young girls. He emphasised the growing concern of obesity and urged the team to visit schools to inspire children to stay active and healthy.
Pratika Rawal, who was injured during the tournament and ruled out of the knockout stage, attended the meeting in a wheelchair. PM Modi personally interacted with her as well.
