Will VCK back TVK as allies reaffirm support for DMK after 2026 Tamil Nadu polls?

Chennai: The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), an ally of the DMK, is yet to decide on whether to extend support to TVK, party sources said on Wednesday, as Vijay’s party continues efforts to secure backing to form the government in Tamil Nadu.
Despite TVK’s outreach, the Left parties and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) have already ruled out supporting the fledgling party.
The Vijay-led TVK, which made its electoral debut with 108 seats, still falls short of the numbers required to form a government, needing at least 10 additional seats.

TVK had reportedly approached VCK for support, but the party has not taken a final call. A senior VCK functionary said the decision would rest with party president Thol Thirumavalavan.
Meanwhile, CPI(M) and CPI candidates, along with IUML MLAs-elect, who won in the April 23 Assembly elections, met DMK president M K Stalin at Anna Arivalayam, the party headquarters in Chennai.
Later, leaders from CPI(M), CPI and IUML reiterated their continued support for the DMK.
