Uttarakhand rain havoc: 126 roads closed, 7 families shifted after wall collapse

Dehradun: Heavy monsoon rain continued to wreak havoc across Uttarakhand on Sunday, leaving road connectivity badly affected as 126 roads, including two national highways, remained blocked due to landslides.
Restoration work is underway at multiple locations, but several key routes continue to remain inaccessible.
Highways remain cut off as restoration continues
The Rishikesh-Yamunotri National Highway has stayed closed for the third straight day after a landslide near Syanachatti buried sections of the road under debris and boulders.
Authorities are carrying out continuous clearance work while also preparing an alternative route to maintain the movement of essential services.
The Tawaghat, Gunji National Highway also remains blocked near Malghat, where Border Roads Organisation teams are working to remove debris and reopen the stretch.
In Chamoli district, a portion of the Simli, Tharali, Gwaldam National Highway suffered damage following a hill collapse near Narayangarh, though traffic is being regulated through the affected section.
In Dehradun, heavy rain damaged a temporary bridge in Premnagar that had been built after last year's disaster. Officials, however, diverted vehicles to a newly completed bridge, preventing major traffic disruption.
The rain also triggered a wall collapse at a building under construction in the city's Patharia Pir locality, injuring a woman. As a precautionary measure, authorities shifted seven nearby families to safer places to avoid any further risk.
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, restoration teams remain deployed across the state to clear blocked roads and restore normal connectivity as quickly as possible.
