Chandrapur, Maharashtra: A tigress known as T-83, which has been linked to the deaths of 11 people over the past three years, has been successfully captured in the Chichpalli forest range of Chandrapur district, Maharashtra.

On Saturday morning, the tigress was tranquillised by a sharpshooter in compartment no. 717 in the Janala area, according to a forest official. The operation involved a team of veterinarians and other specialists.

Despite the forest department’s efforts to capture her in the past by setting up traps, the tigress had remained elusive until now, noted a senior official.

"This is a big relief as the tigress has been caged after three years," he added.
