The auto-rickshaw driver who rushed Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan to Lilavati Hospital following his brutal stabbing has been questioned by the Bandra Police as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident on Saturday. Bhajan Singh, who was called to the police station for questioning, spoke briefly to the media after his release.

"I was called there (Bandra Police Station) for questioning," Singh said, confirming his cooperation with the authorities. He continued to describe his actions when he saw the actor on Thursday in distress followed by the attack, "I did not charge the auto fee because he was not in that condition to pay. I did not think about money that night, I just wanted the person to be okay anyhow."

Singh shared that he had not been contacted by Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, or any of the actor’s family members. "I have not had any conversation with them," he said when asked if the family had reached out to him for more details.

Earlier the driver explained how he ended up helping the actor during a chaotic situation in the early hours of Thursday. At around 2 am, Singh was on his usual route when he saw a person trying to hire an auto-rickshaw. As he approached the scene, he noticed a man covered in blood emerging from a gate, accompanied by several others. Singh immediately stopped his vehicle and offered assistance.

"I drive my vehicle at night. It was around 2-3 a.m. when I saw a woman trying to hire an auto, but nobody stopped. I also heard calls for a rickshaw from inside the gate. I took a U-turn and stopped my vehicle near the gate. A man covered in blood came out, along with 2-4 others. They put him in the auto and decided to go to Lilavati Hospital. I dropped them there, and later I came to know that he was Saif Ali Khan. I saw him bleeding from his neck and back," Singh recounted.

Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder inside his 11th-floor apartment in Bandra on Thursday. The incident occurred after the intruder allegedly confronted the actor’s maid. As Saif attempted to intervene, the situation escalated, leading to a violent altercation where the actor sustained multiple stab wounds.

Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to remove a 2.5-inch-long knife lodged in his spine, which had caused significant damage to his thoracic spinal cord. Doctors confirmed that the actor was in critical condition but is now out of danger, although he continues to be monitored closely.

While Saif's health is stable, the police investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to identify and apprehend the intruder responsible for the attack.
