Kolkata: Jadavpur MP Saayoni Ghosh on Sunday broke her silence amid speculation over her political future after her name appeared among a group of rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs preparing to travel to Delhi.

Speaking briefly to reporters before leaving for the national capital, Ghosh declined to clarify her position on the ongoing political developments within the party, saying she would speak when the time was right.

‘I won’t say anything now. When the time comes, I will speak. You will gradually come to know everything. I will not answer journalists. If I have to answer anyone, it will be the people of my parliamentary constituency,’ the MP said. Watch the video below:

Her remarks come as a group of rebel TMC MPs, led by Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, heads to Delhi ahead of a planned meeting with the Lok Sabha Speaker on Monday.

The MPs are expected to seek recognition for a separate parliamentary bloc, marking the latest development in the ongoing split within the party.

Ghosh’s name figured in a letter signed by 19 MPs that has surfaced in the public domain. Her signature reportedly appears at serial number 10, fuelling speculation over whether she is backing the rebel camp.

The development assumes significance as Ghosh had remained publicly aligned with TMC leadership even after the recent political upheaval.

Earlier this month, she shared a video of TMC supremo and former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s protest programme on social media and had largely avoided commenting on the growing dissent within the party.

Despite questions over her political stance, Ghosh had continued to hold responsibilities in the party’s youth wing.

However, she was later removed from that role after her name surfaced among the signatories to the rebel MPs’ letter.

The crisis within the TMC has deepened in recent weeks, with several senior leaders and lawmakers distancing themselves from the party.

In the West Bengal Assembly, a separate ‘New Trinamool Bloc’ has reportedly emerged under the leadership of Ritabrata Banerjee, while dissident MPs are now moving towards forming an independent grouping in Parliament.

Against this backdrop, Ghosh’s decision to maintain silence has only intensified political speculation, with her latest remarks doing little to indicate which camp she ultimately intends to support.
