Rahul Gandhi backs Youth Congress protest; slams arrests over US trade deal opposition

New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday expressed support for the Youth Congress, calling their protest a continuation of India’s “historical legacy” of peaceful dissent.
In a tweet, Gandhi praised his “Babbar Sher” comrades for raising their voices against what he termed the “compromised PM” and criticised the US trade deal, saying it threatened farmers, the textile industry, and the country’s data security.
He condemned the arrest of Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib and other members, describing it as evidence of “dictatorial tendencies and cowardice.” Gandhi added that holding a mirror to power is not a crime, but an act of patriotism, urging citizens not to fear, as “truth and the Constitution are with us.”
