Rahul Gandhi travels in DTC bus, speaks to govt drivers and conductors | WATCH

Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Monday reflected on his recent bus journey in Delhi, highlighting the dire conditions faced by drivers and conductors. He noted that these workers are burdened with uncertainty, lacking social security, stable income, and permanent employment.
In a post on X, Gandhi shared insights from his bus ride, giving insights on the daily lives of drivers and conductors.
"These workers face no social security, no stable income, and no permanent job. Contractual labor has turned a critical role into one marked by instability. Meanwhile, Home Guards, who ensure passenger safety, have not been paid for six months," he stated.
Gandhi also criticized the fear of privatization looming over Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) employees.
"DTC workers, like other government employees across the nation, are plagued by the constant threat of privatization. These individuals, who facilitate the daily commutes of millions, are met with injustice despite their dedication," he said.
"The demands are clear: equal work, equal pay, and complete justice!"
Earlier on Sunday, Gandhi addressed the relief efforts in Wayanad following the recent landslides and emphasized the need to boost tourism in the region.
In a conversation with local Congress leaders, he acknowledged the progress in recovery but stressed that more work is needed.
"It’s encouraging to see people from all walks of life coming together to aid in relief efforts. However, revitalizing tourism is crucial for further recovery," Gandhi said.
He further emphasized the importance of tourism in supporting Wayanad’s recovery, urging a focused effort to promote the region once the rains subside. "Revitalizing tourism will be key to helping Wayanad’s people. We must work together to encourage visitors to the area," he added.
