Message to the ‘aam aadmi’: Raghav Chadha reacts after AAP removes him from Rajya Sabha post

New Delhi: AAP MP Raghav Chadha has spoken out after being replaced as the party’s Rajya Sabha deputy leader. In a video message shared on X, he questioned whether raising public issues in Parliament could be considered wrong.
Chadha stated that he has consistently used his parliamentary platform to highlight matters affecting citizens and asked why he was being restricted from speaking.
Questions raised over parliamentary participation
In his remarks, Chadha asked whether raising concerns such as air travel food pricing, gig workers’ issues, prepaid mobile plan challenges, and taxation on the middle class was inappropriate. He suggested that these topics were among those he has frequently addressed in the Rajya Sabha.
He also questioned the decision to limit his participation in parliamentary proceedings, stating that he was only bringing public issues to attention.
The Aam Aadmi Party replaced Chadha with another party MP, Ashok Mittal, as the new deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha.
The change has been described as part of internal organisational restructuring by the party, according to earlier statements. The party has not publicly detailed specific reasons for the replacement.

Context of Chadha’s parliamentary role
Chadha has been active in raising issues in Parliament over recent months, including topics related to transport delays, alleged paper leaks, and policy demands such as legal paternity leave. His contributions have largely focused on public-facing governance issues.
The decision has led to public and political speculation about internal dynamics within the party. However, the AAP has maintained that the move is an internal organisational decision and has denied claims suggesting restrictions on Chadha’s ability to speak in Parliament.
Chadha concluded his remarks by expressing gratitude for public support and reiterated that he does not consider the development a setback. The situation remains a subject of political discussion, particularly in the context of upcoming electoral activity and internal party positioning.
