Mohali: Rajvir Jawanda, the 35-year-old Punjabi singer and actor, continues to fight for his life after a severe motorcycle accident in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, while travelling to Shimla. The accident occurred last Saturday when he was riding a 1300cc motorcycle, leaving him critically injured with head, neck, and spinal trauma.

Despite seven days of intensive medical care, Jawanda has shown minimal brain activity. MRI scans revealed hypoxic damage—caused by insufficient oxygen—to brain tissue, while spinal scans indicated serious injury to the cervical and dorsal regions, resulting in severe weakness in all four limbs. He remains on long-term ventilator support.

Reports indicate that during transport to Fortis Hospital, the singer suffered two heart attacks due to delayed medical attention. His condition remains unchanged, and doctors have emphasised the severity of his injuries.

Jawanda’s family is supported by friends and well-wishers from the Punjabi film industry, who have contributed towards hospital expenses and regularly provide food and other assistance. His mother expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the solidarity shown by colleagues in these trying times.

Several prominent Punjabi artists, including Gippy Grewal, Kanwar Grewal, and Kulwinder Billa, have visited him at the hospital, offering moral support to the family. According to a close acquaintance, Jawanda’s wife had asked him to stay home the day of the accident, but he went on the ride despite her concerns.

The singer’s family continues to pray for his recovery as medical teams provide round-the-clock care, while the Punjabi film community remains closely involved, both financially and emotionally, in supporting the critically ill artist.
