New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined a group of young participants at a ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ programme in New Delhi on Friday, adding an unexpected musical moment to an event organised on the birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Modi was seen picking up a khanjari, a small hand-held percussion instrument, and playing along during the devotional performances as the gathering brought together traditional bhajans and a contemporary concert-style setting.
The visuals from the event showed the prime minister seated among the participants and engaging with the musical performances.
The programme was held at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Park as part of events marking Upadhyaya's birth anniversary.

The ‘Bhajan Clubbing’ concept had already received attention from Modi earlier this year.

The format has emerged as an alternative way for younger audiences to engage with devotional music and communal celebrations.
Friday's appearance gave the trend an unusual visual moment, with Modi himself joining the rhythm on the percussion instrument as the devotional performances continued.
