PM Modi's 6 guarantees for Bengal: 7th Pay rollout promised, jail warning to corrupt TMC leaders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday unveiled a sharp political pitch for West Bengal, announcing “six guarantees” that a BJP government would implement if voted to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking at a rally in Haldia, Modi launched a strong attack on Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that corruption, criminal patronage, and illegal infiltration have weakened governance in the state.
He asserted that Bengal is ready for change and said the “exit of this ruthless government is certain.” Highlighting law and order as a key focus, Modi promised strict action against those involved in corruption.
“Be it a minister or a watchman, no one will be spared. Every corrupt person will be sent to jail,” he said, adding that all pending files related to scams, crimes against women, and other serious offences would be reopened.
Six guarantees announced:
The Prime Minister outlined a six-point agenda, promising a complete overhaul of governance if the BJP comes to power:
- Restoration of law and order and an end to the alleged atmosphere of fear
- A fully accountable administrative system answerable to the people
- Reopening of all corruption, crime, and injustice-related cases
- Jail for those leaders involved in corruption, regardless of position
- Protection of refugees’ constitutional rights and action against illegal infiltrators
- Immediate implementation of the 7th Pay Commission for government employees
Modi also emphasised the need for a “double-engine government,” arguing that coordination between the Centre and the state would accelerate development in sectors such as fisheries and the blue economy.
He highlighted central initiatives like the Ministry of Fisheries and the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, claiming these have boosted fish production and supported fishermen across the country.
However, he alleged that such schemes face hurdles in Bengal due to political reasons.
With polling for the 294-seat Assembly scheduled later this month, Modi’s speech signals an aggressive BJP push to challenge the TMC in one of India’s most crucial electoral battlegrounds.
