‘What's in the report?’ Owaisi accuses BJP-RSS of targeting Sambhal for a Hindutva agenda

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), alleging that Sambhal city in Uttar Pradesh is "on the BJP-RSS target" for enforcing their Hindutva agenda.
Speaking to ANI, Owaisi said, "We have hopes with the Court. We have no hopes for justice from the BJP, Yogi and Narendra Modi because whatever is happening in Sambhal, with many people being killed during police firing, it is clear and known what kind of report will come out."
On August 28, a three-member panel submitted a 450-page report on the November 2024 violence in Sambhal to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The report highlighted demographic changes, noting that the Hindu population in the Sambhal Nagar Palika area has reduced from 45 per cent to 15 per cent, while the Muslim population has increased to 85 per cent since independence.
Owaisi dismissed the report, accusing it of serving a political agenda: "What is there in the report? You are just looking to implement the agenda of Hindutva in Sambhal. I have full faith that the people will not let this happen."
He further stated, "You cannot expect them to do justice under a government which is hell-bent on making life difficult for the Muslims of Uttar Pradesh. They have used bulldozers to demolish, without due process, many houses of Muslims. They have used these so-called encounters to either injure... or some people have also died."
Owaisi also criticised political parties for their silence, saying, "I am sure the people of Sambhal would give a befitting democratic reply, not only to the present BJP government in Uttar Pradesh but also to the so-called secular parties who are maintaining radio silence on the Sambhal issue."
