Over 100 tribal students hospitalised after suspected food poisoning in Maharashtra's Amravati

Amravati: More than 100 tribal students from three government residential schools in Maharashtra's Amravati district were hospitalised after falling ill with suspected food poisoning, officials said on Monday.

The incident happened over two days in Dharni tehsil, where students reportedly began vomiting after consuming meals served at their hostels.

According to tribal development project officer (Dharni) Siddarth Shukla, a police complaint has been registered against the operator of the central kitchen that supplied food to the three residential schools.

On Saturday, 69 students were admitted to the government hospital in Dharni after complaining of vomiting. The following day, another 70 students from government residential schools in Bijudhavdi and Savlikheda developed similar symptoms and were also taken to hospital for treatment.

Most of the affected students have since been discharged. However, 32 children remain under medical observation, and their condition is reported to be stable, officials said.
