Nitish Kumar begins record 10th term; extends greetings to PM Modi on stage | WATCH
New Delhi:JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar on Thursday was sworn in as the chief minister of Bihar for a record 10th time at the Gandhi Maidan here.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy to him. He took the oath on the Constitution of India.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president J P Nadda and several other top leaders of the NDA.

Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, extended his congratulations as his father prepares to take oath for the 10th time. He said, “I congratulate my father as he takes oath for the 10th time. I express gratitude and appreciation to all ministers and everyone who will attend the ceremony.”

Political leaders from across the country arrived in Bihar on Thursday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected NDA government, which returned to power with a decisive mandate, winning 202 of the 243 Assembly seats.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio arrived at Patna Airport to participate in the ceremony at Gandhi Maidan.
Kumar met Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Wednesday, submitted his resignation as chief minister and later staked claim to lead the new government. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan at 11:30 am, the site where Jayaprakash Narayan called for “total revolution” in 1974.
Earlier in the day, Kumar was unanimously chosen as the leader of the NDA legislature party and also elected leader of the JD(U) legislative party at a meeting at his residence.
His deputies, Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, were present along with LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan and Bihar BJP president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal.
The NDA won a commanding 202 of the 243 seats in the assembly polls. The BJP secured 89 seats, while the JD(U) won 85. Other NDA allies included the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) with 19 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) with five and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha with four.
