The moment when US handed over shackled Tahawwur Rana to NIA | PHOTOS

New Delhi: New visuals of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana have surfaced, showing him in shackles around his waist, hands, and legs as he was formally handed over by US Marshals to the NIA team earlier this week.
These images were released a day after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) shared Rana’s first photos since his extradition from the United States. The newly surfaced visuals were captured at the time when the NIA team, sent from India to bring him back, received him in custody.
The Indian team landed in New Delhi with Rana on Thursday evening after completing all formalities.
Rana, accused of playing a key role in planning the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, arrived in India on Thursday after a prolonged legal battle. He was later produced before the Special NIA Court in Delhi, which granted the agency 18 days of custodial interrogation.
The NIA stated that Rana’s questioning will focus on unraveling the full extent of the 26/11 conspiracy, including his alleged links to David Headley, officials from Pakistan’s ISI, and senior Lashkar-e-Taiba commanders.
Rana’s extradition was secured after he exhausted all legal options in the US, where he was held under judicial custody as part of proceedings initiated under the India–US Extradition Treaty.
