Foreigners stranded in India?: MEA shares guidelines for travel assistance

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Sunday urged foreign nationals in India affected by travel disruptions due to the ongoing West Asia crisis to reach out to the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for visa extensions or regularisation.
The MEA advisory stated: “All foreign nationals in India, who have had to change their travel plans due to the ongoing developments in the West Asia region and need assistance with extension of their visa or to regularise their stay, are requested to contact the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). The FRRO concerned will help with the necessary formalities. For contact details of FRRO, you may visit https://boi.gov.in/ .”
The advisory comes as tensions in the Middle East escalate following US-Israel strikes on Iran, affecting international travel and visa arrangements for visitors and residents.
India has also issued safety and travel guidance for its own citizens in the region. The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has advised nationals to exercise “utmost caution,” avoid non-essential travel, stay close to designated shelters, and follow local news and official channels for updates. A 24/7 emergency helpline has been established to provide assistance.
