‘Branded anti-national’: Mamata Banerjee alleges action against exam protesters

Kolkata: Former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that young people who protested against alleged exam irregularities were labelled anti-national and faced harassment.

During a Facebook Live session, she alleged that some protesters were tortured and their families were threatened.

TMC workers and leaders allegedly targeted

Banerjee also alleged that Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs and MLAs were facing pressure and threats.

She claimed that police officials were asking some party members to join the BJP or face legal action. She further alleged that thousands of TMC workers had been jailed and accused the BJP of creating a “mega prison” in West Bengal.

The West Bengal chief minister also criticised remarks by BJP leaders related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

She said that any insult towards Netaji was an insult to the entire country.

Banerjee also expressed concerns about the census process in West Bengal, claiming that political parties were not being involved.

She said she had doubts over whether the process would be conducted fairly and transparently.

Banerjee’s remarks come amid continued political tensions between the TMC and BJP in West Bengal, with both parties frequently accusing each other over issues related to governance, law enforcement and political activity.
