Major security breach at Indian Parliament: Man caught after scaling wall

New Delhi: On Friday morning, a major security breach occurred at the Parliament House complex when a man climbed a tree and scaled the wall to gain unauthorised access. The incident transpired around 05:50 a.m., with the intruder reaching the Garuda gate of the new Parliament building by jumping over the wall from the Rail Bhavan side.
Security personnel stationed at the complex quickly detected the breach and apprehended the man. He is identified as Rama (20) of Uttar Pradesh. He seems mentally incoherent. Further interrogation and verification are underway. Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage to reconstruct the sequence of events and investigating possible lapses in security protocols.
This breach comes just a day after the conclusion of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, which started on July 21 and lasted for 21 business sittings.
This is not the first such incident at Parliament. Last year, a man in his early twenties was caught after scaling the Parliament wall and entering the Annexe building premises. A video of that incident showed the suspect in casual attire being held by CISF personnel, with no incriminating items found in his possession.
In another major security lapse in 2023, on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 attack on the Parliament, two men jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors' gallery during a session, carrying canisters emitting yellow smoke. The Parliamentarians subdued and handed them over to security staff. These men were later identified as Sagar Sharma from Lucknow and Manoranjan D. from Mysore.
