Kangana Ranaut performs Karwa Chauth puja for PM Modi? Truth behind viral video revealed

Faith, politics and a festival have come together in an unusual social media conversation.
A video of actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut performing puja and offering prayers for Prime Minister Narendra Modi has drawn attention online, with several posts claiming the actress observed special Karwa Chauth rituals for him.
The clip, which surfaced on social media on Thursday evening, October 29, shows Ranaut dressed in a striking crimson-red and multi-coloured double ikat Patan Patola saree, complemented by traditional statement jewellery.
As she performs the rituals, claims accompanying the footage suggest that her prayers were dedicated to Modi's long life, good health and well-being.
The timing of the video's circulation has added to the intrigue, particularly as Karwa Chauth is traditionally associated with married women observing a fast and praying for the longevity and prosperity of their husbands.
The footage has consequently drawn attention for its alleged connection with the Prime Minister.
However, what exactly prompted Kangana Ranaut to offer prayers for Modi? And was the actress really performing the rituals on the occasion of Karwa Chauth?
The answer lies in a temple visit in Rajasthan. The video dates back to June 2026, when Ranaut visited the Shree Chamunda Mata Temple and Gajanan Maharaj Temple in Jodhpur as part of the promotional campaign for her film Bharat Bhagya Vidhata.
During the visit, the actress offered prayers for Modi and congratulated him on completing 4,400 days in office, a milestone that marked his position as India's longest-serving Prime Minister in terms of consecutive tenure.
Ranaut had also shared footage from the temple visit on her Instagram account on June 11.
Explaining her prayers for the Prime Minister, she wrote, ‘I prayed to God to bless him with excellent health, immense strength and a long life, so that the coming decade under his leadership also becomes a decade of development, prosperity, security and pride for India.’
This establishes that the footage being circulated as a Karwa Chauth video is actually from her June visit to Rajasthan. The actress did pray for Modi, but not on October 29, as the viral social media claims suggest.
Ranaut, known for her outspoken views on political and public matters, has not reacted to the clip's recent circulation or the claims linking it to Karwa Chauth.
