‘Who takes her seriously?’: BJP MP Kangana's 'generation gutter' remark sparks storm, CJP fires back

New Delhi: BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut triggered a political controversy after criticising Gen Z protesters involved in the NEET paper leak agitation, describing their behaviour as offensive and using the phrase "Generation gutter" in social media posts.

Ranaut's comments drew criticism from opposition parties, student groups and social media users, who accused her of making insulting remarks about young protesters.

CJP spokesperson attacks Kangana's remarks

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das criticised Ranaut, saying that even members of her own party do not take her statements seriously.

Das said younger generations, including Gen Z and Gen Alpha, do not listen to Ranaut's views and questioned her seriousness as a public representative.

He also referred to earlier remarks attributed to Ranaut about her experience as an MP and said they raised questions about her understanding of the responsibilities of elected representatives.

Kangana defends her comments

Ranaut defended her remarks while speaking to reporters in Parliament. She alleged that some protesters had used abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.

She questioned whether such behaviour represented genuine student activism and said protests should maintain dignity.

Opposition leaders condemn remarks

Several opposition leaders criticised Ranaut's comments. Congress leaders said her remarks would be answered by young people, while Samajwadi Party leaders called the statements insensitive.

AIMIM leader Waris Pathan said Ranaut should apologise to Gen Z and argued that students had the constitutional right to protest.

Ranaut's comments also triggered widespread reactions online, with users debating the language used by both protesters and political leaders. Critics accused her of targeting young protesters, while supporters argued that she was questioning the conduct and language used during some demonstrations.

The controversy comes after weeks of protests over alleged examination irregularities, which ended following government action, including the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
