Mandi: Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh, who lost the Mandi Lok Sabha seat to BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut, has criticised her for asking her voters to bring Aadhaar cards to meet her.

Singh argued that “as we are people's representatives. So, it is our responsibility to meet people from every section of the state…it does not require any identity. If a person is coming to a public representative, they are coming for some work.”

He added that seeking documents to meet a people’s representative is ‘not right’.

Newly elected MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, known for her controversial statements, has stirred political debate this time for her Aadhaar statement she made during a media interaction session after inaugurating her new office here.

Kangana stated that it is necessary as a high volume of tourists visit Himachal Pradesh, which can cause inconvenience to locals.

Kangana said, "Himachal Pradesh attracts a lot of tourists, so it is necessary to have an Aadhaar card from the Mandi area. Your work related to the constituency should also be written in the letter so that you don't have to face inconvenience."

"Tourists come so much that common people face a lot of inconveniences," she added.
