4 mobile phones found inside Jaipur jail; prisoner goes missing after one-day parole

A surprise search at Jaipur Central Jail has exposed two separate security concerns, with authorities recovering four mobile phones and SIM cards from inmates while another prisoner allegedly failed to return after being released on one-day parole.

The incidents were reported separately and have led to cases being registered at Lalkothi Police Station. Police and jail authorities are now investigating both matters.

Four mobile phones, SIM cards recovered from inmates

The jail administration carried out a surprise search across different barracks on August 22. During the operation, officials recovered mobile phones and SIM cards from four inmates.

A mobile phone was seized from Zubair Pathan in Barrack No. 1, while another was recovered from Naimiuddin in Barrack No. 3.

In Barrack No. 5, officials recovered mobile phones and SIM cards from inmates Vikas and Yograj Singh.

Jail Guard Anil Kumar subsequently filed a complaint at Lalkothi Police Station. Police seized the recovered devices and registered a case.

ASI Sumer Singh is investigating the matter. Police are examining the seized phones and tracing calls allegedly made from the devices. Authorities are also looking into how the prohibited mobile phones and SIM cards entered the high-security jail premises.

Prisoner fails to return after one-day parole

In a separate case, inmate Shobhit Joshi, who had been released on one-day parole, allegedly failed to return to Jaipur Central Jail after his parole period ended.

After Joshi did not surrender within the stipulated period, jail authorities informed the police.

Jail Guard Mahendra Singh filed a complaint, following which Lalkothi Police registered a case. Special police teams have been deployed to search suspected locations and trace the prisoner.

The two cases have put the security arrangements at Jaipur Central Jail under fresh scrutiny. Investigations into the recovery of the mobile phones and the whereabouts of the prisoner are continuing.
