Delhi: IndiGo has said that passengers who were “severely impacted” during the widespread disruption at airports between 3 and 5 December, caused by a major crew shortage, will receive compensation of Rs 10,000. The airline has not yet clarified how it defines “severely impacted” or how it plans to identify the travellers eligible for this payout.

The airline, which has faced heavy criticism and government action after hundreds of flights were cancelled over several days, stated that it has already processed refunds for all cancelled services.

In an official statement, IndiGo noted, “IndiGo regrettably acknowledges that part of our customers travelling on 3/4/5 December 2025 were stranded for many hours at certain airports and number of them were severely impacted due to congestion. We will offer travel vouchers worth INR 10,000 to such severely impacted customers.” The airline added that these vouchers “can be used for any future IndiGo journey for the next 12 months.”

What additional compensation has IndiGo offered?

The airline stressed that this payment is separate from the compensation of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 it is required to provide under government rules to customers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of their scheduled departure.

The statement further said, “At IndiGo, we are committed to restoring the experience you expect from us safe, smooth, and reliable. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you again.”

Are IndiGo’s flight operations back to normal?

In a separate statement, IndiGo affirmed that services to all destinations have now been operating normally for the past four days. It added that there have been no same-day cancellations for the last three days, other than those caused by weather conditions, technical issues, or other factors beyond its control.

According to the airline, “IndiGo continues to strengthen its operations, improving its services day by day to now operating 1,900+ flights that seamlessly connect all 138 destinations across our network. Our commitment to operational excellence has led to significant efficiency gains, and our On-time Performance has been restored to top-tier industry standards.”
