Smoke scare on IndiGo flight triggers emergency evacuation at Bengaluru airport | VIDEO

Bengaluru: More than 230 passengers and crew members were evacuated from an IndiGo aircraft at Bengaluru airport on Tuesday evening after smoke was detected inside the cabin, according to sources.
The incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 6017, which was scheduled to operate from Bengaluru to Chennai. The airline said the Airbus A321 aircraft was taxiing towards the runway for departure when smoke was noticed onboard.
“In the interest of safety, an immediate evacuation was carried out, and all the relevant authorities were informed,” IndiGo said in a statement.
The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated and moved to the terminal, where assistance was being provided by airline staff.
Sources said there were more than 230 people onboard the aircraft at the time of the incident.
IndiGo added that an alternate aircraft had been arranged to operate the flight to Chennai.
No injuries were immediately reported, and the exact cause of the smoke inside the cabin was not known. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident further.
