Ghaziabad raid: 1,000 kg of adulterated Rasgullas seized ahead of Raksha Bandhan | VIDEO

Ghaziabad, UP: Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, the Food Safety Department in Ghaziabad launched a crackdown on suspected food adulteration and seized nearly 1,000 kg of prepared chhena rasgullas from a warehouse in Biharipura.

A departmental team raided the warehouse, located under the Vijay Nagar police station limits, following information about the alleged preparation and storage of adulterated sweets.

According to food safety officials, the rasgullas were allegedly prepared using adulterated paneer, sugar and chemicals, including sefolite.

The officials collected four samples from the premises and sent them to a laboratory for testing. The department has taken custody of nearly 1,000 kg of sweets and initiated the process of disposing of the seized stock.

The authorities have also begun proceedings to revoke the licence of the warehouse operator.

The action comes ahead of Raksha Bandhan, when demand for sweets typically rises sharply, prompting food safety authorities to intensify inspections and checks against adulteration.

Earlier, on August 14, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA)conducted raids at multiple dairy establishments in Ghaziabad as part of an ongoing crackdown on food adulteration. During the operation, 868 kg of paneer and 170 kg of khoya were destroyed on the spot, according to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

FSSAI shared details of the action on X, along with a video, and wrote, “UPFDA conducted raids at multiple dairy establishments in Ghaziabad. 868 kg of paneer & 170 kg of khoya were destroyed on the spot. The nationwide campaign of FSSAI against food adulteration continues with strict enforcement & vigilance by state FDAs.”
