From Lebanon video to Delhi fire footage, misinformation floods social media after Ahmedabad plane crash

After the Ahmedabad plane crash on Thursday, many fake videos started spreading on social media. These videos claimed to show scenes from the crash or its aftermath. They quickly went viral, causing confusion and panic.
The government acted quickly. The Press Information Bureau (PIB), the official fact-checking team, posted alerts to stop the spread of false information. They shared facts and warned the public about the fake videos.
Which videos were fake?
Here are the main fake claims that were clarified:
1. Old video shared as CCTV footage
A video was shared widely claiming to show CCTV footage of the crash and hospital. PIB said the video is actually from Lebanon and has nothing to do with the Ahmedabad crash.
2. Wrong plane in video
Another video claimed to show Air India flight AI-171 just before the crash. But in the clip, a passenger is heard saying "Air India Express." This proves the video is not related to flight AI-171.
3. Unrelated fire video
A video showing a building on fire was wrongly linked to the crash. PIB said the fire happened in a building in Dwarka, Delhi, and is not connected to the Ahmedabad incident.
The public is advised to stop sharing unverified content and trust only official sources.
