Info on EMCC was handed over to Kerala, says Centre

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday stated that the information regarding EMCC International, the US firm with which the state government had allegedly signed a contract for deep-sea fishing, was handed over to Kerala government.

MEA informed the Lok Sabha that details were handed over in three phases.

Kerala had sought the help of MEA to inquire about EMCC. The Indian Consulate in New York was contacted by MEA and the information obtained was handed over to Kerala government on 2019 October 21, 25 and November 6.

Though attempts were made to collect more information on the company, no communication was received from their part. The address in New York couldn’t be confirmed. Virtual address in a rented building was furnished by the company, MEA had informed Kerala.

Earlier, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan also had stated that Kerala was warned regarding the company.
