Despite OSM scrutiny, CBSE to retain Coempt Eduteck for answer sheet scanning: Report

For thousands of Class 12 students staring at scorecards and wondering whether a few marks could change their future, the re-evaluation window is more than a formality, it is often a final opportunity to seek clarity.

Against that backdrop, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has moved to reassure students over the security of answer-sheet records while continuing with its existing re-evaluation scanning system.

According to a report by ANI citing sources, COEMPT Eduteck Pvt Ltd will continue scanning answer sheets for the re-evaluation process, and its Online Scanning Module (OSM) platform will remain in use for the exercise.

The development comes amid concerns surrounding the safety and handling of students' examination data.

Sources told ANI that additional measures have been implemented to strengthen the portal against potential cyberattacks and data breaches.

To further bolster oversight, CBSE has reportedly transferred all answer-sheet data and related records from COEMPT's servers to its own infrastructure. The move is aimed at ensuring greater institutional control over sensitive examination records while maintaining the operational framework already in place for re-evaluation.

The clarification seeks to address questions raised over data security as students continue to apply for verification and re-evaluation of their board examination results.

Meanwhile, CBSE has also extended the deadline for submitting applications for verification and re-evaluation of Class 12 board examination results. Students can now complete the process until midnight on June 7.

Announcing the decision on X late Friday, the board said the extension was granted in the interest of students, giving them additional time and support to submit their applications.

As the re-evaluation process gathers pace, the board's focus appears to be on balancing administrative continuity with stronger safeguards for student data.
