Delhi Police issues traffic advisory for Lok Niwas programme

New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of a special official function at Lok Niwas, warning commuters of possible traffic disruptions across several major roads in the national capital on Wednesday.
According to officials, the movement of dignitaries and security convoys is expected to affect traffic between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, particularly in parts of Central and North Delhi.
Motorists have been advised to plan their travel in advance and use alternative routes to avoid delays during the advisory period.
Key roads likely to be affected
The Delhi traffic advisory stated that vehicle movement may be impacted on several important roads, including:
- ITO Chowk
- Ring Road
- Mall Road
- Rajpur Road
- Mahatma Gandhi Marg
- Chauburja Marg
- Bhiku Ram Jain Marg
- Shamnath Marg
- Boulevard Road
- Lok Niwas Marg
Commuters travelling through these stretches may experience slow-moving traffic, congestion or temporary diversions due to security arrangements.

Possible traffic diversion points
Authorities said traffic diversions may be implemented depending on real-time conditions. Key junctions where diversions could be enforced include:
- PS Civil Lines Red Light
- Shamnath Marg Red Light
- Tis Hazari Court Red Light
- Khoya Mandi U-Turn
- Khyber Pass Red Light
- St Stephen’s Red Light
- Rajpur Authority Cut
- MCD Chowk
Traffic police personnel will be deployed at these points to regulate vehicle movement and assist commuters.
Restrictions on commercial vehicles
As part of the traffic management plan, commercial vehicles, including TSRs (auto-rickshaws), will not be allowed to operate on Raj Niwas Marg between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
The restriction has been imposed to ensure the smooth movement of official convoys and better traffic management near the event venue.

Advisory for commuters
The Delhi Traffic Police has urged the public to cooperate with authorities and follow traffic instructions during the event. Motorists have been advised to:
- Avoid travelling on affected roads where possible
- Use alternative routes to reach destinations
- Avoid roadside parking in restricted zones
- Follow directions issued by traffic personnel on duty
Emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire services, will be allowed to pass without interruption.
Officials have also encouraged commuters to stay updated with real-time traffic alerts to avoid delays while travelling in the affected areas of the city.
