Delhi exit polls: Pollsters predict advantage for BJP over AAP, setback for Congress

As voting wraps up across 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi, exit poll predictions have set the stage for keen anticipation of the results. Majority of the exit polls indicate a highly competitive battle, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging with a slight advantage over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Matrize: The Matrize poll projects a closer race, with AAP estimated to win between 32 to 37 seats, while BJP is predicted to secure between 35 and 40 seats. The Congress party, however, continues to struggle with minimal representation, with only one seat potentially within their grasp, according to this poll.

P-Marq: The P-Marq poll paints a more significant advantage for BJP, giving the party between 39 to 49 seats, while AAP could secure between 21 and 31 seats. Congress is expected to maintain negligible representation, with no more than one seat in sight. This poll further emphasizes BJP’s dominance in key regions of Delhi.

People’s Insight: People's Insight echoes the trend of a BJP-led victory, projecting between 40 and 44 seats for the BJP. AAP is anticipated to win 25 to 29 seats, while Congress could manage between zero and two seats.

People’s Insight exit poll: AAP: 25-29, BJP:40-44, Congress: 0-2

People’s Pulse: The People's Pulse exit poll predicts a strong performance for the BJP-led NDA, projecting between 51 and 60 seats. AAP is expected to secure only 10 to 19 seats, while Congress is unlikely to win any seats.

JVC: The JVC exit poll also indicates a BJP-led victory, estimating 39 to 45 seats for the party. AAP is projected to win between 22 and 31 seats, while Congress is expected to secure between zero and two seats.

Here are some of the leading exit poll predictions

Chankya Strategies exit poll said the BJP and allies are likely to get 39-44 seats, the AAP is likely to get 25-28, while Congress may get 2-3.

Two surveys predicted AAP's victory - Wee Preside, which gave 46-52 sets for AAP, 18-23 for BJP and 0-1 for Congress, and Mind Brink Media predicted 44-49 seats for AAP, 21-25 for BJP and 0-1 for the Congress.

Matrize exit poll predicted a close contest, giving the BJP led NDA 35-40 seats, while the AAP was said to get 32 to 37 seats. The survey gave Congress 0-1 seats.

The DV Research exit polls predicted 26-34 seats for the AAP, and 36-44 for the BJP and allies, giving zero seats to the Congress.

The key battle is between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress. 

Polling took place at 13,766 stations across all of Delhi's 70 assembly constituencies to decide the fate of 699 candidates in a contest that could reshape the political landscape of the capital.

While the AAP is eyeing a third consecutive term, the BJP and Congress are hoping for a resurgence in Delhi.

In the 2020 assembly polls, Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 62.59 per cent, while only 56 per cent of voters participated in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
