Psycho killer hunts, rapes and butchers mentally challenged woman; Arrested after 12-day chase

New Delhi, Nov 28: Delhi Police have arrested a 23-year-old serial offender accused of committing one of the most brutal murders the capital has witnessed this year.
The man, identified as Salman alias Bona, allegedly raped a mentally challenged woman, slashed her face and head with a sharp weapon, and finally smashed her skull with a stone before fleeing the city.
Police described the accused as a “psycho killer”, noting his long history of violence and sexual crimes, including robbery, kidnapping and the rape of a minor.
Body Found in Shrubs Behind Railway Station
The case began on November 16, when a woman’s semi-naked body was found dumped in thick shrubs behind Adarsh Nagar Railway Station.
The deceased, identified as Seejan, a 52-year-old ragpicker from Holambi Kalan’s Metro Vihar, had deep, gaping cuts on her face and head. The nature of the wounds suggested the use of a sharp-edged weapon.
At the scene, police recovered two pairs of slippers — one belonging to the victim and the other believed to be her attacker’s — along with a suspected weapon.
CCTV Trail Leads to Accused
Investigators quickly obtained CCTV footage from a public toilet near the railway station. In the recording, the victim is seen entering the facility moments before a man dressed in a pink shirt, grey trousers and distinctive white-and-black slippers follows her inside. Minutes later, the same man exits barefoot, walking toward Sarai Peepal Thala.
By matching the slippers to those found at the crime scene, police narrowed their search to the Jhuggis of Badhola village, where the suspect was identified as Salman. But by the time officers reached his residence, he had disappeared.
12-Day Chase Across Three States
Police teams were deployed in Ghaziabad’s Loni, Mukundpur and Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj. However, the accused had switched off his phone a day before the killing, making tracking difficult.
The breakthrough came on the night of November 17–18, when a tip-off alerted police that Salman had escaped to Vedach in Gujarat. A team was rushed to the location, and the accused was arrested after brief surveillance.
During interrogation, Salman allegedly confessed to following the woman, attacking her with a stone, raping her while she lay injured, and later killing her using a sharp weapon.
Police Probe Motive
Calling the crime “gruesome beyond imagination,” senior officers said investigators are still trying to determine why Salman targeted the mentally challenged woman.
“He is a habitual, dangerous offender,” a senior officer said. “His actions and brutality indicate he is extremely violent. We are probing deeper to understand his motive.” The investigation is ongoing.
