Anmol Bishnoi deported from US, taken into custody by NIA for terror nexus case

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Anmol Bishnoi, brother and close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, following his deportation from the United States, officials said on Tuesday.
Anmol, who had been absconding since 2022, is the 19th accused apprehended in connection with the terror-syndicate led by his imprisoned brother. He was chargesheeted by the NIA in March 2023 for actively aiding designated terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in various acts of terrorism between 2020 and 2023.
Operating primarily from the US, Anmol is accused of running terror syndicates and orchestrating terrorist activities using gang operatives in India. Investigations reveal he provided shelter and logistic support to shooters and ground operatives, and engaged in extortion from foreign soil with assistance from other gangsters.
The NIA continues to probe the case (RC 39/2022/NIA/DLI), focusing on dismantling the nexus between terrorists, gangsters, arms smugglers, and their infrastructure and funding channels.
Anmol Bishnoi is a key figure in his gang's overseas operations, directing extortion rackets and coordinated assignments through encrypted channels. He was deported after being detained in the US in late 2024 and had previously evaded arrest by fleeing India on a forged passport, travelling through Nepal, Dubai, and Kenya before reaching the US.
He faces nearly 20 cases, including alleged involvement in the murders of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and politician Baba Siddique. Authorities believe his interrogation could expose crucial details about the gang’s international criminal network.
