‘Compelled to purchase clothing...’: BJP MP slams IndiGo over missing baggage

New Delhi: BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal on Friday criticised IndiGo after his baggage went missing during a flight from New Delhi to Belagavi, saying there was no clarity on its whereabouts and demanding an explanation from the airline.

Taking to X, BJP MP wrote, “Shameful experience with @IndiGo6E. I travelled from New Delhi to Belagavi on Flight 6E-5237 today. While I reached my destination, my baggage did not. There is no clarity on its whereabouts. This has caused me immense mental agony, serious inconvenience, and financial loss as I am compelled to purchase essential clothing and personal items immediately.”

He said the missing baggage contained valuable documents.

“My baggage also contains important and valuable documents, making the situation even more distressing. Such negligence and poor baggage management are completely unacceptable. If this is the experience extended to a sitting Member of Parliament, one can only imagine the plight of ordinary passengers,” he added.

Khandelwal also sought an “immediate explanation” from Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, and brought the matter to the attention of Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu.

“Hon’ble Shri @RamMNK, this reflects deeply concerning operational standards at IndiGo. Immediate intervention is needed,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, IndiGo Airlines, in a statement, apologised for the inconvenience and assured that all efforts are being made to deliver the missing luggage to the passenger’s location as soon as possible.
