Bihar Election 2025: PM Modi calls on voters to set new record in final phase of polling

Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday morning urged citizens in Bihar to set a new record in voter turnout as polling began for the second and final phase of the state Assembly elections.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister appealed particularly to first-time Gen Z voters to exercise their franchise and encourage others to do the same.
“Today is the second and final phase of voting in the Bihar Assembly elections. My request to all voters is that they participate actively in it and create a new record for voting. I have a special appeal to the young companions of the state who are going to vote for the first time that they should not only cast their vote but also inspire others to do so,” PM Modi said.
All necessary arrangements have been made for the second phase of polling, which will decide the fate of 1,302 candidates, including several senior leaders from both the ruling NDA and the opposition Mahagathbandhan.
Bihar recorded an impressive 65.08 per cent turnout in the first phase of polling, with all major political parties, including Jan Suraaj, interpreting the strong participation as a positive sign for their respective camps.
In this round, a total of 3.70 crore voters are eligible to cast their votes across 122 constituencies, following a high-octane campaign by leaders from all major parties.
The second phase will determine the electoral fortunes of 12 ministers from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s cabinet. Among the JD(U) candidates are Vijendra Yadav (Supaul), Lesi Singh (Dhamdaha), Jayant Kushwaha (Amarpur), Sumit Singh (Chakai), Mohammad Jama Khan (Chainpur), and Sheela Mandal (Phoolparas).
BJP ministers contesting include Prem Kumar (Gaya), Renu Devi (Bettiah), Vijay Kumar Mandal (Sikati), Nitish Mishra (Jhanjharpur), Neeraj Bablu (Chhatapur), and Krishnanandan Paswan (Harsiddhi).
Other key constituencies going to the polls include Sasaram, Imamganj, Mohania, Bihpur, Gopalpur, Pirpainti, Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, and Nathnagar.
The first phase of polling concluded recently, with voting for 122 seats scheduled for November 11 in the second phase. The results of the Bihar Assembly elections will be declared on November 14.
