Another snag hits Mumbai Monorail, service disrupted at Wadala | WATCH

Mumbai: A monorail train carrying 17 passengers came to an abrupt halt on the tracks near Wadala on Monday morning due to a technical fault, prompting a swift rescue operation by authorities.

The incident occurred around 7:16 am between the Antop Hill Bus Depot and GTBN Monorail Station, according to information received from the Mumbai Police Control Room.

Officials from the civic body confirmed that all 17 passengers were safely rescued approximately 45 minutes after the train came to a standstill. The stranded commuters were transferred to another monorail train arriving from Chembur.

"The train heading to Wadala halted. The passengers were transferred to the train coming from Chembur. Fire Brigade came later and started their operation. Monorail officials are saying that it was a supply issue...I urge the Govt to resolve this recurring issue," said Rajesh Ananda Bhojane, Ward Councillor of Ward 175 (RPI - Athawale).

He further urged the state government to address the recurring technical issues plaguing the city’s monorail services.

This incident adds to a growing list of reliability concerns for the monorail system. Just last month, during heavy rainfall, two monorail trains were stranded at separate locations across the city, leading to large-scale passenger rescue operations.
