Devotion beyond life: Late IRS officer donates ₹3.66 crore worth of property, cash to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams

Hyderabad/Tirupati: In a heartwarming gesture of faith and devotion, late Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer YVSS Bhaskar Rao has posthumously donated assets worth ₹3.66 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). This trust manages the world-renowned Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirumala.
Rao, a retired IRS officer from Hyderabad who passed away recently, had outlined in his will a generous bequest to the TTD, reflecting his deep and lifelong devotion to Lord Venkateswara. As per the official release from the temple trust, the donation includes a premium residential property and a substantial sum of money to support temple activities and charitable programs.
The residential property, named ‘Ananda Nilayam’, is a 3,500 square foot house located in Vanasthalipuram, Hyderabad. Valued at ₹3 crore, the house has been earmarked specifically for spiritual purposes, as per Rao’s last wishes.
In addition to the property, Rao bequeathed ₹66 lakh from his bank accounts, which will be distributed across several of TTD’s dedicated trusts. The detailed breakdown of the donation includes:
₹36 lakh to the Sri Venkateswara Annaprasadam Trust, which provides free meals to lakhs of pilgrims daily,
₹6 lakh each to the Sarva Sreyas Trust, Veda Parirakshana Trust, Go Samrakshana Trust, Vidyadana Trust, and SRIVANI Trust, all of which serve diverse religious, educational, and dharmic initiatives of the TTD.
The property documents and donation cheques were formally handed over on Thursday to TTD Additional Executive Officer Venkaiah Chowdary by three trustees of Rao’s will. Officials from the TTD expressed gratitude and lauded Rao’s noble gesture as a rare example of selfless devotion and commitment to dharma.
“This act of magnanimity by the late Bhaskar Rao garu is a shining example of true devotion. His contributions will go a long way in supporting the noble initiatives of TTD and in service of millions of devotees,” a TTD spokesperson said.
Rao’s family members and trustees shared that spiritual values deeply inspired his life, and he had often spoken of wanting to give back to the temple that brought him peace and purpose.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has also assured that the property will be used strictly for the spiritual activities as intended by the donor, and the funds will be utilised transparently as per trust norms.
