Actor Sreenath Bhasi has approached the Kerala High Court, seeking anticipatory bail, fearing imminent arrest in connection with the drug probe involving kingpin Tasleem Sultana. In his plea, Bhasi has expressed concern that the Excise team may arrest him despite his claim of innocence. He asserts that he has never purchased any drugs from the accused, Tasleem Sultana, nor has he engaged in any further distribution or trading of illicit substances. The High Court is set to hear his plea on Monday.

Earlier, Excise Deputy Commissioner S. Vinod Kumar confirmed that the investigation into the case is intensifying. He stated that if necessary, the Excise Department will issue notices to the implicated film personalities, including Bhasi and actor Shine Tom Chacko, to appear before them.

The investigation centers around Sultana, who was arrested early this month with an accomplice following a tip-off. The excise team seized hybrid ganja worth approximately Rs 2 crore during the operation at a resort near Alappuzha on Tuesday night. Sultana, a Kannur native, is believed to have run a distribution network spanning Chennai, Kochi, and Alappuzha, with strong ties to the Malayalam film industry. She reportedly used her industry connections to secure minor acting roles and had a history of involvement in film script translation work, which further solidified her network in the film world.

This is not Sultana’s first encounter with the law; she has a previous arrest record related to her involvement in a sex racket. Actor Shine Tom Chacko, also named in the case, has faced past controversies, including a 2015 arrest for cocaine possession, though he was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
